For decades, the cultural project was sexual liberation; breaking rules, rejecting shame, and expanding freedom. Today, the conversation has shifted. We speak more about consent, boundaries, emotional safety, and power than ever before. Those are important gains. But somewhere along the way, another question emerged: Have we become so focused on protecting ourselves that we've made it harder to surrender, be surprised, or risk genuine intimacy? If vulnerability always comes with uncertainty, can we create relationships that are both safe and deeply alive?
